Liz Morrell, the attorney general of the US state of Louisiana, has filed a lawsuit against the gaming platform Roblox, accusing it of facilitating the sexual exploitation of children and lacking adequate safety measures. The lawsuit states that the platform has not implemented effective safeguards to protect child users from adult predators and that it prioritizes user growth and revenue over child safety, putting children at risk.
Roblox has faced similar lawsuits in the past, including an incident in Iowa where a girl was kidnapped after identifying a predator on the platform. While the Attorney General believes the platform should be shut down, Roblox has denied the allegations, emphasizing that it has strict child protection measures in place, such as restrictions on sharing personal information, photos and links, and that it is constantly working to strengthen oversight and prevent circumvention of safety systems to ensure a safe environment for all users.
