Jordan completes 20 artificial intelligence projects and boosts its national digital transformation

In light of the rapid developments in artificial intelligence technologies around the world, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship confirmed that the Jordanian government has so far completed 20 projects specializing in artificial intelligence, as part of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. The ministry explained that these projects were distributed across several government sectors and different areas, with fourteen projects having been fully completed and closed, while six other projects are still ongoing on an annual basis, most notably the project to train government employees on artificial intelligence technologies.

The ministry stated that work on implementing these projects began in 2023 and that they represent an essential part of the national strategy through which the government seeks to promote digital transformation in various institutions. It also noted that the government is currently working on implementing about 28 additional projects in the field of artificial intelligence, with responsibility distributed among a number of ministries and various official bodies, as part of a comprehensive national plan to use these technologies to improve government performance and services provided to citizens.

As part of efforts to build human capacity, the ministry confirmed that 9,000 government employees had been trained in artificial intelligence by the end of December 2025. The Siraj digital education platform has also been expanded to reach more than 200,000 users, including students and teachers, while the number of conversations conducted through the platform has exceeded one million, reflecting the high demand for AI-powered digital tools in the education sector.

The ministry added that the government has also launched a twinning project to support digital transformation in the areas of personal data protection and artificial intelligence, in cooperation with the European Union, with the aim of strengthening the legislative and regulatory frameworks related to the use of these technologies. An important project to purify government data using artificial intelligence was also implemented, which included processing high school exam data from 1985 to 2004 and processing more than two million records to ensure their accuracy and convert them into a usable digital format.

In the same context, a project to link land records between the Ministry of Local Administration and the Land and Survey Department was completed, which included linking more than 2.5 million records, with the aim of unifying government databases and supporting digital transformation processes. The ministry emphasized that such projects directly contribute to raising the efficiency of government work and improving the level of services provided to citizens and investors alike.

The government also noted that progress and growing interest in the field of artificial intelligence has had a positive impact on Jordan's position in specialized international reports and indices. The Government AI Readiness Index report issued by Oxford Insights showed that Jordan's ranking rose to 49th globally among 188 countries in 2024, compared to 55th among 193 countries in 2023. At the Arab level, Jordan ranked fifth, surpassing a number of countries such as Bahrain, Egypt, and Kuwait.

This progress reflects the efforts of the Jordanian government, led by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, to strengthen Jordan's position as a regional and global hub for artificial intelligence. Among the pioneering initiatives that have been highlighted internationally is the project to use artificial intelligence to predict electrical loads, which contributes to improving the efficiency of the energy network, reducing dependence on traditional reserves, and accelerating the transition to renewable energy sources.

In another international indicator, the ministry confirmed that Jordan has made remarkable progress in the Artificial Intelligence Proliferation Report issued by Microsoft's Artificial Intelligence Economics Institute for the second half of 2025, ranking third in the Arab world and 29th globally out of 147 economies covered by the report. The use of artificial intelligence tools among the working-age population reached about 27 percent, compared to 25.4 percent in the first half of the same year, exceeding the global average of 16.3 percent.

This index is based on measuring the actual use of AI tools based on data from Microsoft platforms via the telemetry system, taking into account differences in internet penetration, operating systems, and population density, ensuring a fair comparison between countries. At the Arab level, the United Arab Emirates topped the global index with a usage rate of 64 percent, followed by Qatar with 38.3 percent, while Jordan ranked third in the Arab world with 27 percent, ahead of a number of other Arab countries.

The report confirmed that countries with advanced digital infrastructure and high technical readiness achieve higher rates of AI tool usage, emphasizing the importance of expanding internet access, developing digital skills, and promoting investment in modern technologies. Jordan's advanced performance in 2025 reflects a clear upward trajectory in the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies within the labor market and confirms the Kingdom's ability to keep pace with global technological transformations and enhance its digital competitiveness at the regional and international levels.
